T-Mobile has opened beta registration for Live Translation, a service that provides real-time translation during voice calls by integrating artificial intelligence directly into its wireless network. The technology allows users to communicate across language barriers without requiring the installation of new applications, the purchase of new devices, or additional subscriptions.
The service represents a shift toward network-integrated AI, where capabilities are embedded into the infrastructure of the wireless provider rather than relying on software hosted on the end-user’s device. By processing the translation at the network level, the service is accessible to any compatible phone on the T-Mobile network.
Registration for the beta program is currently open to T-Mobile postpaid members. The service is designed specifically for voice calling and is available for calls made within the United States, to select international destinations, or while roaming internationally in specific countries that support VoLTE or 5G enabled partner networks.
The company first unveiled the platform on February 11, 2026, describing it as an agentic AI platform built into the wireless network.
The integration aims to remove technical and linguistic barriers for a broad user base. T-Mobile noted that an estimated 60 million Americans live in multilingual households, where language gaps can often hinder communication between different generations of the same family.
Srini Gopalan, CEO of T-Mobile, addressed the intent behind the technology during the February 11, 2026, announcement:
Some of the biggest barriers wireless customers face are the simplest ones — like being able to understand each other. When language gets in the way, the network gets reduced to just a signal — and that’s not who we are. By bringing real-time AI directly into our network, we’re delivering more than connectivity — turning conversations into community, starting with Live Translation.

Technical Specifications and Constraints
Live Translation supports near real-time translation for over 80 languages. However, the service is limited to voice calls and is not a comprehensive translation tool for other forms of communication.
T-Mobile has established specific safety and accuracy boundaries for the service. The company explicitly states that the translation service is not available for 911 or 988 emergency calls. Because the translations are AI-generated, the company warns that accuracy is not guaranteed.
The deployment of this service is part of a broader effort to integrate AI services directly into the network to deliver capabilities straight to customers
without the friction of app downloads or hardware upgrades.
