Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards will miss multiple weeks with a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise, while teammate Donte DiVincenzo is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon, the team confirmed following Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
The injuries occurred in the first half of Saturday’s 112-96 victory at Target Center, giving Minnesota a 3-1 series lead despite losing both starting guards. Edwards was hurt late in the second quarter after landing awkwardly while contesting a layup, with his left knee buckling on impact. He was helped to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game.
DiVincenzo went down even earlier, just 1 minute and 19 seconds into the game, after slipping while chasing a loose ball. He immediately signaled for help and put little to no weight on his right foot before being assisted to the locker room. He later left the arena in a wheelchair.
An MRI confirmed Edwards suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension of the left knee, with no ligament damage detected. Team officials said he will undergo further evaluation but is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks. DiVincenzo was diagnosed with a torn right Achilles tendon and will have surgery in New York on Sunday, ending his season.
