Toronto FC Aims to Build on 3-3 Draw with Austin FC in April Home Stand at BMO Field

Toronto FC extended its unbeaten run to six matches with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Austin FC at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2026.

The match saw Toronto FC rally from a deficit twice, with second-half goals from Dániel Sallói, Richie Laryea and Kobe Franklin securing the draw after Austin FC had taken leads through Jon Bell and others earlier in the game.

Toronto FC began the match strongly, creating early chances that tested Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver, who made a triple save within eight seconds to deny efforts from Josh Sargent, Derrick Etienne Jr. And Kobe Franklin in the opening minutes.

Despite Toronto’s positive start, Austin FC took the lead in the 29th minute when Jon Bell scored from close-range following a long throw-in, heading into halftime with the advantage.

Toronto FC levelled the score seven minutes after the restart when José Cifuentes’ low cross deflected into the path of Dániel Sallói, who steered it home with his thigh to make it 1-1.

The match continued to see shifting momentum, with Austin FC regaining the lead before Toronto FC responded again. Kobe Franklin scored his first career MLS goal in the 88th minute, sending a shot from the centre of the box past Brad Stuver to equalise at 3-3.

Franklin expressed satisfaction with the milestone despite hoping for a winner, stating it was “definitely a proud moment for me and my family, something I’ve been working toward for a long time.”

“Obviously, very, very exciting to get (the goal) as an equalizer, but it would have been a bit sweeter if it were the winner,” Franklin said.

The result extended Toronto FC’s unbeaten streak to six games (three wins, three draws), bringing their record to 3W-2L-3T and 12 points in the standings. Austin FC remained at 1W-3L-4T with seven points.

Head Coach Robin Fraser made two changes from the previous match against FC Cincinnati, bringing in Kobe Franklin and Raheem Edwards for Benjamín Kuscevic and Matheus Pereira.

Toronto FC goalkeeper Luka Gavran made several key saves in the first half to deny efforts from Facundo Torres and Myrto Uzuni, helping keep the team in contention despite Austin FC’s early lead.

An early incident saw Austin FC defender Nicolás Dubersarsky initially shown a straight red card for a challenge on Raheem Edwards in the ninth minute, but the decision was downgraded to a yellow card after a VAR review.

Toronto FC will continue its April home stand at BMO Field, with the next match scheduled against the Philadelphia Union as part of Matchday 9 in MLS play.
