Tulane University baseball defeated Southeastern Louisiana 8-4 on April 14, 2026, at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. While the Green Wave secured the midweek victory, the event was overshadowed by a severe head injury sustained by a Southeastern Louisiana player during the opening inning.
Tulane entered the contest with a record of 20-18 and 6-6 in American conference play, while Southeastern Louisiana held a record of 23-15.
First Inning Surge
Tulane established an early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning. The rally began with a bases-loaded hit by pitch by Matthias Haas, followed by a single to the opposite field from Trent Liolios.

The Green Wave extended the lead through a combination of a bases-loaded hit by pitch and two throwing errors by Southeastern Louisiana. One of those errors occurred at first base during a fielder’s choice grounder by Kaikea Harrison, which resulted in an RBI for Harrison.
According to reporting from FOX 8, a throw to home plate was off target following a ball hit toward the mound by Hugh Pinckney, allowing another run to score and further extending the early lead.
Game Progression and Scoring
Tulane continued to build its lead into the fourth inning. With a 6-2 advantage, Kaikea Harrison hit an RBI single up the middle to score Trent Liolios, bringing the score to 7-2.
Southeastern Louisiana attempted a comeback led by Justin Williams, who hit two solo home runs to left field during the game.
Tulane’s offense saw contributions from several players who drove in at least one run. In addition to Harrison and Liolios, the following players recorded RBIs:

On the mound, LuisPablo Navarro earned the win after pitching the first three innings and allowing two runs. The Tulane bullpen managed the remainder of the game, with Tom Vincent throwing three innings and recording four strikeouts. Jacob Moore allowed one run on two hits in his frame, followed by a scoreless eighth from Jude Abbadessa and a scoreless ninth from Sam Larson.
Serious Injury to Rhett Centanni
The game was marked by a dangerous collision in the bottom of the first inning. Southeastern Louisiana left fielder Rhett Centanni, a Rummel High and Delgado Community College product, collided with shortstop Connor Cuff while chasing a leadoff blooper hit by Tye Wood.
Centanni took a shin to the head during the collision and remained on the turf for more than 10 minutes. Tulane coach Jay Uhlman was among the first to reach Centanni in the outfield to check on his condition.
Emergency responders carried Centanni off the field on a stretcher, and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. FOX 8 reported that Centanni suffered a severe concussion and experienced convulsions on the field following the impact.
Following the game, Southeastern assistant coach Taylor Dugas noted that reports regarding Centanni’s condition had become a little more positive
. Sports information director Damon Sunde later confirmed that Centanni was stable and under medical observation
. Subsequent reports from FOX 8 indicated that Centanni is now resting at home.
