Xiaomi MIX 5 Leaks: Global Launch, Notch-Less Display, and New Specs

Xiaomi is reportedly developing a new non-foldable flagship smartphone that could mark the return of the MIX series to international markets. According to internal database findings first spotted by Xiaomi Time, the device is intended for a 2026 release and aims to deliver a completely notch-less display experience.

The device has been identified in internal records under the codename Hongkong with the model number Q5. Within Xiaomi’s internal naming conventions, the Q prefix typically indicates a launch window scheduled for 2026. The hardware is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor.

Industry analysts suggest the model number points toward the device being the Xiaomi MIX 5. The company has historically utilized the number 5 for its primary MIX flagships, as seen with the MIX 2 and MIX 3. While the company recently shifted the 8 suffix to its Flip series, the Q5 designation suggests a return to the core MIX lineage.

Advancements in Under-Display Camera Technology

The MIX series has functioned as a technical testing ground for Xiaomi and the upcoming model is expected to focus on perfecting the Under-Display Camera (UDC) system. UDC technology places the front-facing camera beneath the display pixels to eliminate the need for a notch or a hole-punch cutout.
