Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has expanded its lineup with the POCO X8 Pro Max, a device designed to provide flagship-level performance and high battery endurance at a mid-range price point. Launched in March 2026, the device marks the first time the company has introduced a Pro Max designation to its series, positioning the phone as a value-oriented alternative to premium flagships.
The POCO X8 Pro Max is also marketed as the Redmi Turbo 5 Max in certain regions to standardize naming conventions across different markets.
Battery and Charging Specifications
A primary feature of the POCO X8 Pro Max is its battery capacity. Multiple reports indicate the device houses an 8,500mAh battery, although some regional reviews cite a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. This capacity is paired with 100W fast wired charging to reduce downtime for heavy users.
Despite the large battery, the device maintains a slim profile of 8.2mm. The physical dimensions are 162.9mm by 77.9mm, and the phone weighs 218 grams.
Hardware and Display
The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, intended to deliver performance comparable to higher-end models. This represents paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the Indian market variant.
The POCO X8 Pro Max features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision, making it suitable for high-resolution video playback and gaming.
Build Quality and Design
The build consists of a metal frame and a fiberglass back. In terms of durability, the phone carries a comprehensive suite of dust and water resistance ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K.
The visual design borrows elements from the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, featuring a slightly flushed camera bump. The camera area also includes racetrack-inspired decorations integrated with a dynamic RGB light.
Technical Trade-offs and Camera
To maintain its accessible price point, POCO has made specific hardware compromises. The device lacks wireless charging and does not include a telephoto lens in its camera system.
While the main camera is described as capable and ready for daylight use, the overall system is considered a secondary focus compared to the device’s battery and processing power.
Market Pricing
The POCO X8 Pro Max is positioned as a budget-friendly option within the mid-premium segment. In the United States, the device starts at $469, with an early bird price of $429.
In India, the 12GB/256GB variant was launched in March 2026 at a price of ₹42,999.
