A highly anticipated summit between President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President vladimir Putin aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine has reportedly fallen apart.
Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, known for his close ties to Russian political circles, claims that intense negotiations between the two superpowers took place throughout last week, culminating in a planned meeting today. Though, Gordon alleges that Putin ultimately rejected Trump’s peace proposal, leading to the summit’s cancellation.
“Putin definitively rejected Trump’s peace plan and sabotaged today’s meeting,” Gordon stated, according to the Ukrainian news outlet “Strana.”
Gordon further predicts that the collapse of the summit will result in a significant escalation of the conflict.He suggests that Trump, in response to Putin’s rejection, will now fully arm Ukraine, potentially even providing Tomahawk missiles.
