[국제]Macron: “I have nothing to do with Telegram founder’s entry and arrest”
French President Emmanuel Macron said he was unaware of Durov’s entry into the country and had no plans to meet him, following his arrest in France of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
President Macron, who is visiting Serbia, said at a press conference that he does not track the entry and exit of citizens on a daily basis.
He also emphasized that this investigation is an independent measure of the judiciary and will be conducted transparently by judges and related independent organizations.
He defended the decision to grant Durov French citizenship in 2021 as the right decision, as it was in line with the policy of allowing internationally prominent figures who have made significant contributions to France to become naturalized upon request.
President Macron added that other actors and athletes, including Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, have also been granted French citizenship.
