[시사일보=최한규 기자] Daejeon City is promoting a pilot project to support reusable containers to reduce the use of disposable products at Hanbat Baseball Stadium.
Starting with the Hanwha Eagles regular season game on August 31, the city plans to provide over 20,000 reusable cups to spectators using food and beverage services at Hanbat Baseball Stadium during baseball games in September.
When ordering drinks at the seven food and beverage outlets inside Hanbat Baseball Stadium, spectators are encouraged to use reusable cups instead of disposable cups, and after using them, they are asked to place them in the reusable cup return boxes installed at each exit.
Used reusable containers are collected by a professional company on the same day and resupplied to the baseball stadium after a six-step hygienic cleaning process.
In particular, the reusable cups distributed this time feature Daejeon’s mascots ‘Kkumdoli’ and ‘Kkumsooni’ and Hanwha Eagles’ mascot ‘Suri’, which are expected to play a role in promoting Daejeon as a more cute and fun city.
The city plans to take the lead in creating a baseball culture without disposable products by starting a pilot project to support reusable cups at Hanbat Baseball Stadium this year and expanding the use of reusable containers at Baseball Dream Park, which will be opened next year.
Park Jong-bok, the director of Daejeon City’s Environmental Bureau, said, “Through this pilot project, we will take the lead in creating a baseball culture without disposable products,” and added, “I hope that citizens will actively participate so that a culture of using reusable containers can take root.”
