[전국]10 people arrested for operating an illegal gambling promotion website

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency arrested 10 members of an organization that created and operated a website promoting illegal gambling sites, and detained 4 of them.

The group is accused of creating and operating a website promoting around 60 illegal gambling sites since 2017, and receiving 2.7 billion won in advertising fees.

It was found that they mainly promoted sports betting or casino sites and then received a commission of 1.5% of the amount bet by members from the operators.

The police seized cash and luxury watches worth 1.3 billion won from the home of the head operator, and also placed 160 million won in criminal proceeds on the accomplices’ shoulders for pre-indictment preservation so that they cannot dispose of them.
