With the heat and drought continuing for days, farmers were having difficulty working and were worried that the crops they had worked so hard to grow would be damaged.

This fall’s rain is expected to put an end to the heat and ease the drought.

Kim Ki-su visited farms that had received rain during a drought.

We also organize the watering hoses to keep the soil from drying out during hot weather.

Farmers’ worries were relieved as the crops in the fields came back to life thanks to the long-awaited rain.

[우재옥 / 농민 : 그동안 가물어서 맨날 물 주느라고 아침저녁으로 굉장히 고생 많이 했거든요. 그런데 이렇게 비가 와주니까 배추며 다른 농산물들도 굉장히 좋아하는 것 같고….]

The water in the fields is also being opened.

Before harvest, the water in the fields needs to be drained, but the cool rain makes the work much easier.

The cool breeze also makes us feel the refreshing change of seasons.

[김영석 / 농민 : 폭염이 너무 심했잖아요. 들에 나오질 못했어요. 너무 더워서 아침저녁으로만 나와서 작물을 살피고 이런 정도였는데 지금 더위가 물러가는 것 같고 시원해지고….]

The cows in the barn are also happy to feel the coolness they have rarely felt before.

Normally, they would stay under the ceiling fan, but now they seem to have regained their appetite and are wandering around the barn, eating hay.

As the weather gets cooler, the cows inside the barn become more active.

The autumn breeze and rain cooled down the long, scorching heat.

Nongshim, which had suffered from the drought, can now finally take a breather and prepare for the coming fall harvest.
