[핫픽뉴스] Students at Dongduk Women’s University covered the school with mourning wreaths in “strong opposition to transition to engineering”.
Wreaths have been placed across the Dongduk Women’s University campus in opposition to the conversion to coeducational schools.
The condolence wreath is decorated with ribbons with messages opposing the university’s talk of transitioning to co-educational education, such as “We strongly oppose students unwittingly promoting conversion to engineering,” “The Democratic Party is dead,” and “Are women easy?”
Dongduk Women’s University Student Council posted a poster opposing the transition to co-education at the ‘Naran’ campus and received solidarity signatures from around 2,400 students.
In addition, they announced that they would hold a filibuster (unlimited debate) to call for the withdrawal of coeducational education talks.
Student council ‘Naran’ issued a statement on the 7th saying, “Despite the matter being discussed, the university headquarters has not made a single comment to the student council, which is the student representative,” and “it is only when the student council raises doubts that they open their mouths.” .” “The actions of the university headquarters are an act of contempt for the 8,000 Dongdeok residents,” he noted.
He then asserted, “What constitutes Dongduk Women’s University is the ‘women’ of Dongduk ‘Women’s’ University” and “Naran, the student council, is totally opposed to the conversion of Dongduk Women’s University to engineering, which is a threat to women. The foundation of Dongduk Women’s University.”
“Conversion to co-educational education is only one of several options being considered for the school’s future and has not been decided,” the university said, adding, “We will be in full communication with students as future discussions develop.”
Nevertheless, students continue to point out that discussions of the transition to co-educational education have come up without any contact with students, and question whether this is a ‘closed door discussion’.
It has been the hot pick news so far.
