Funkel on New players:
Funkel emphasized the need for strategic acquisitions: “This is not a wish concert. At FC Bayern, you have other opportunities to sign players than at 1. FC Köln. We have a structure within the team, and they can play Bundesliga. But you still need four to six players who increase the competition in all positions. We have good players who have also shown it in the first division. You have to give them your trust. The new players must then be integrated. FC will put together a team that will fight for relegation with five other teams.”
Reschke on Age vs. quality:
Reschke dismissed concerns about player age, asserting, “It’s not about age; it’s about quality. This age question annoys me. Friedhelm is so clear and has emphatically proven that. There was pressure on the boiler at 1. FC Köln.And the first conversation was like fresh air in the cabin. There is deep affection and respect among the players, which is much more vital than age.”
