Indonesian Navy Officers Sharpen Maritime Security Skills in U.S. program
Monterey, CA - Ten Indonesian Navy officers are participating in a prestigious maritime security course at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California. The two-week “Fundamental of Maritime Security Course” (FOMSC) aims to enhance their understanding of maritime domain awareness (MDA) and global maritime security practices.
The officers, all majors in the indonesian Navy, departed for the U.S. on December 2nd and will return on December 13th. They are accompanied by four colonels from the Indonesian Navy Staff and Command School (Seskoal), who will provide mentorship and support throughout the program.
“this program is crucial for Indonesia as a major maritime nation,” said First Admiral I.M.Wira Hady,Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service. “It equips our officers with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard our territorial waters and contribute to regional maritime security.”
The FOMSC brings together 28 delegates from 13 countries, fostering international collaboration and knowledge sharing. Participants engage in a rigorous academic curriculum covering a wide range of topics, including maritime threats, surveillance technologies, and international cooperation mechanisms.
