Being an influencer or YouTuber is a dream career for many. Creating content for millions to watch can be lucrative, but is it as profitable as we think? Maddy Borge, a female influencer with over 1 million followers on YouTube, shares her story.
Maddy created a video to disclose her income from a short clip that garnered 10 million views. The video, “How we share a tiny 365 ft² apartment,” reveals the harsh reality of her earnings.
There are three primary channels through which influencers can earn money:
- Sponsors: Maddy reveals that having sponsors is the most crucial channel for generating income. However, her videos are not sponsored, resulting in zero income from this channel.
- Advertisements: This channel only applies to clips viewed on laptops. Maddy earned a total of $10.56 (approximately 350 baht) from advertisements.
- YouTube Shorts Fund: This channel is the most profitable. Maddy earned a total of $373 (approximately 12,300 baht) from the YouTube Shorts Fund.
Combining all three channels, Maddy’s total earnings amount to approximately $385 (approximately 12,700 baht).
After releasing the earnings disclosure video, viewers were astonished by the amount of money, which contradicted their expectations. Many commented, “$300 for 10 million views? I think it should be more than this.”
