100 Days of Labour and New Horizons for the UK-Japan Relationship
Explore the early days of the new UK Labour government — the first in over 14 years. Still within the first 100 days of leadership, our distinguished panel will explore the government’s emerging priorities and the potential impact on businesses operating within the UK-Japan economic system.
Guests will hear insights into the new government’s policies and strategic directions from His Majesty’s Ambassador to Japan, Julia Longbottom CMG and Director for Trade & Investment Japan and Deputy HM Trade Commissioner for North-East Asia, Chris Hunt. We will also explore what the UK might expect from Japan as the ruling Liberal Democratic Party seeks a change in leadership this September.
As businesses adapt to this significant political shift, understanding these dynamics will be crucial for staying competitive and informed, with insights provided by Dominic Sharman, Partner at Baker McKenzie, and Steve Norris, Partner at Control Risks.
With the first change of government in over 14 years, we will focus on the first 100 days of the new Labour government and discuss the new government’s policy priorities and the impact on Japan-UK economic relations and business. Our guests will be Julia Longbottom, British Ambassador to Japan, and Chris Hunt, Director of UK Trade and Investment, who will discuss the strategic direction of the new government and what the UK expects from Japan as the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party leadership changes. Adapting to this political change and understanding the trends is also important for businesses to remain competitive and make decisions. We will also hear insights from experts Dominic Sharman (Baker McKenzie) and Steve Norris (Control Risks), and there will be a Q&A session for the audience, so please join us for a great opportunity to stay up to date.
