11,000 North Korean Troops Move into Russia’s Kursk Region: Pentagon Update
North Korean Troops in Russia’s Kursk Region
Approximately 11,000 North Korean troops have entered Russia’s Kursk region, according to Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh. The Pentagon suggests these troops may soon engage in combat operations alongside Russian forces against Ukrainian troops positioned in the area.
Currently, there is no evidence of additional North Korean troops arriving in Russia. However, the situation may change. The U.S. recognizes North Korea as a co-belligerent with Russia, and North Korean troop movements began last month.
In response to the ongoing conflict, the United States has been supplying Ukraine with various military weapons, including Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS). These systems are expensive and limited in number, leading the U.S. to consider its own military readiness while managing its reserves.
Russia has relocated its airfields outside the ATACMS range, which is about 190 miles. Despite this, Ukrainian forces have effectively utilized drones to strike weapon storage sites beyond this range.
As the conflict progresses, Russian casualties are averaging around 1,200 per day.
