The 12th Africa Investment and Trade Forum opened in Algiers on May 9, 2026, aiming to foster partnerships to accelerate economic and developmental integration across the African continent.
The forum was organized by the Arab-African Investment and Development Center (CAAID) in partnership with the African Union (AU), the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf).
Operating under the theme “Together We Open Markets,” the event serves as a strategic platform for economic actors, experts, and financial and development institutions to discuss cooperation opportunities and explore shared economic growth.
The two-day meeting seeks to transition from the exchange of visions to the activation of practical partnerships. Primary areas of focus include productive investment, the development of intra-African trade, and the facilitation of market access in accordance with current trends in the African economy.
The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Algerian government officials, including Noureddine Ouadah, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, and Moustafa Hidaoui, the Minister of Youth in charge of the Superior Council of Youth.
The forum aims to bolster joint efforts toward comprehensive development, aligning with the goals of the Africa Agenda 2063, which prioritizes economic integration as a strategic necessity.
The event brings together a diverse group of participants, including businessmen, investors, representatives from financial institutions, chambers of commerce, and various regional and international organizations.
Vietnam is participating in the forum as part of the effort to jointly open markets within Africa, according to reporting from Vietnam.vn.
Organizers expect the conclusion of the meeting to include the signing of several agreements intended to support sustainable economic partnerships.
