An official source within the telecommunications sector has indicated that the increase in prices may reach up to 15%. Four major telecommunication companies—Vodafone, Orange, E&A, and Amara—have approached the telecom regulatory authority to discuss potential service price increases ranging from 30% to 40%.
Shipping Card Cost
The announced prices for rechargeable cards by the telecommunication companies now reflect the overall prices available in the market, including both low and high-value cards.
The new prices set by the four companies are as follows:
- A £10 recharge card now costs £12, providing an actual balance of £8.50.
- A £25 recharge card has increased to £30, giving a balance of £21.50.
- A £50 recharge card is now £60, offering a balance of £42.50.
- A £100 recharge card has risen to £120, giving a balance of £85.
Reasons for the Price Increase
The telecommunications companies attributed the price hike to several factors, mainly rising operating costs and inflation. The recent increases in electricity prices have also significantly impacted their expenses. Additionally, the global inflation rate has raised production costs, including fuel and electricity necessary for operating network towers.
In response to the pricing changes, telecom companies are launching offers and promotional packages to attract customers and retain their client base.
