Vermont women’s ice hockey secured a 4-0 shutout win against Franklin Pierce on October 11, 2025, at Jason Ritchie Arena in Winchendon, Massachusetts, completing a weekend series sweep and starting the season 3-1-0. uvmathletics.com reported that 11 different players recorded a point in the contest, marking the program’s best start to a season since the 2022-23 campaign.
The victory propelled the Catamounts forward in their early-season schedule while providing head coach Jim Plumer an opportunity to evaluate his roster away from home. UVM outshot the Ravens 37 to 19 and capitalized on special teams, converting one power play while killing off all three penalties against them.
How Vermont Defeated Franklin Pierce
The scoring began early when Hilary Wilkin collected a rebound in the slot and one-timed a shot past goaltender Rylee Eno just 1:32 into the first period. Zoe Charland and Lila Pannacciulli assisted on the opening sequence, with Pannacciulli earning her first career point via a bank pass off the boards.
Vermont extended its lead during the second period when Rose-Marie Brochu scored her first goal of the campaign at the 8:11 mark on a power play. Just 11 seconds later, Ezra Oien added an even-strength tally off a feed from Lauren O’Hara, pushing the advantage to 3-0.
Gracesyn Louis capped the scoring 8:26 into the third period by rifling a shot into the bottom right corner following a skate-pass from Cecilia DesLauriers. Goaltender Tara Bach stopped all 19 shots she faced to earn her second shutout of the season.
Where the Program Stands Heading to Cornell
The weekend sweep leaves Vermont with a 3-1-0 record and a streak of scoring first in every game this season. The team went 32-23 on faceoffs against Franklin Pierce, with Brochu and O’Hara each winning a game-high 12 draws.

Following the win, the Vermont Mutual Insurance Group donated $100 to the Ronald McDonald House through the Cat’s Win, Community Win’s initiative. The Catamounts now prepare for their second consecutive road series, traveling to Ithaca, New York, to face top-15 ranked Cornell on October 16, 2026.
