Kuomintang’s New Taipei City Councilor Bai Peiru Embroiled in Corruption Scandal
(Central News Agency reporter Xie Xingen, Taipei, 18th) Kuomintang New Taipei City Councilor Bai Peiru is suspected of embezzling the salary of a public assistant for 15 years and engaging in crimes of taking advantage of her position. Obtaining property according to corruption and crime regulations.
Bai Peiru was a member of the 16th Taipei County Council before the reorganization and a member of the New Taipei City Council from the 1st to 4th term (currently).
The investigation revealed that Bai Peiru and others are accused of defrauding the New Taipei City Council from 1998 to April 2013 to obtain the salaries of government-funded assistants from the New Taipei City Council and then use them for personal use.
Prosecutors believe Bai Peyru and others were involved in crimes such as taking advantage of their position to defraud property under the Corruption and Corruption Code, providing false information about public servants under the Criminal Code and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The Shilin District Prosecutor’s Office today ordered the New Taipei City Investigation Office of the Ministry of Justice’s Investigation Bureau to search Bai Peiru’s service offices in Jinshan, Wanli, Ruifang and Ciji, as well as Bai Peiru’s residence. Bai Peiru, Bai family relatives and friends and assistants and 13 other people explained.
