MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A 17-year-old from Wisconsin faces multiple charges, including homicide, after allegedly killing his mother and stepfather as part of a broader scheme to fund an attack on President Donald Trump, according to federal investigators.
Nikita Casap is accused of authoring a manifesto outlining his desire to assassinate the president to incite political unrest in the United States, the FBI stated in court documents.
“By eliminating the president, and potentially the vice president, chaos is guaranteed,” Casap allegedly wrote in the manifesto.
Authorities believe Casap murdered his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer, on Feb. 11. Their bodies were discovered more than two weeks later when police conducted a welfare check at their residence.
Later that night, police apprehended Casap in Kansas while he was driving the family’s SUV. A search of the vehicle revealed $14,000 in cash,jewelry valued at over $14,000,and a revolver,according to investigators.
Analysis of Casap’s phone uncovered materials related to neo-Nazi groups, images of Adolf Hitler, and detailed plans for a drone attack, the FBI reported. he had also allegedly purchased a drone and explosives.
A classmate told investigators that Casap had discussed killing his parents and fleeing to Ukraine.
Casap is now facing nine charges, including two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of mutilating a corpse.
