Nineteen motorists were caught committing traffic offenses at the Woodlands Checkpoint between April 30 and May 3, 2026, during the Labour Day long weekend.

Of the individuals apprehended, 18 were caught while leaving Singapore, while one motorist was caught crossing double white lines while entering the country.

The offenses included jumping queues, making illegal right turns and driving across double white lines. Some motorists were also caught stopping in areas that blocked other drivers, inconvenienced other motorists, or posed a danger.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) reported that 14 vehicles were instructed to make a U-turn and return to the back of the queue. All 19 motorists were referred to the Traffic Police for further action.

Four drivers operating foreign-registered vehicles were caught and subsequently banned from entering Singapore.

ICA Enforcement and Warnings

In a statement issued May 7, 2026, the ICA reminded travelers to maintain lane discipline when using land checkpoints.

The enforcement actions took place as the ICA ramped up traffic monitoring at the checkpoint during the holiday period.

Double white lines are used to mark the center of two-way roads. These markings prohibit lane changes, U-turns, and overtaking, and motorists who violate these rules can be fined.

This incident follows similar enforcement during the Chinese New Year festive period in February 2026, when at least 59 motorists were caught at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
