The Moovy Tanzfilmfestival in Cologne presents innovative dance films, immersive virtual reality choreography, and augmented reality performances connecting digitality and movement, according to museen.koeln. Festival tickets cost €12.00 for standard admission or €7.00 for reduced entry, while a festival pass is available for €55.00 or €32.00 reduced for students and Köln-Pass holders. The title means together or we in Sesotho, and the work functions as a collective experience rather than a mere film. It is carried by South African artists Gaby Saranouffi and Moeketsi Koena, unfolding between everyday life, dance, music, and community work as a multifaceted portrait of the city of Johannesburg that is raw, poetic, and direct. The film draws on a collective dance, music, and community project titled Ballroom Bliss Soweto developed with the Wuppertal collective deufert+plischke. Over 40 participants contributed to the project, filming across three locations in Johannesburg to portray daily life, poverty, cultural traditions, spiritual practices, and residents including women and children living with poverty and violence who find their own forms of expression, while questioning how contemporary art can enter the tension field where cultural traditions and life resistances dance together. Cologne Street Performances by Angie Hiesl and Roland Kaiser
Another highlighted presentation is the 18-minute film Dressing the city and my head is a shirt, conceived by Angie Hiesl and Roland Kaiser with cinematography by Michael Maurissens, as detailed by museen.koeln. Ten dancers and performers integrated themselves into the daily bustle of Cologne streets in 2024, interacting with urban architecture and hundreds of items of clothing in an exploration of what happens when bodies and objects get tangled up, how clothing acts as a second skin and a membrane between body and surroundings acting as a link between inner and outer worlds and making a statement, and how bizarre, fragile yet vital images emerge as performers intertwine with public space and encounter passers-by. Festival Access and Ticket Information
Screenings and installations are hosted at venue locations including Filmforum NRW, with individual tickets priced at €12.00 and €7.00 for concessions, and festival passes offered at €55.00 and €32.00.
