20 Years of Silence: A Daughter’s Shocking Reunion with the Father She Abandoned
Dad Forced Me to Study: A Daughter’s 20-Year Journey of Self-Discovery
Dai Liu was born in 1983 in Wanggang, Hubei Province, China. Her father was a journalist, and her mother was a local teacher. Influenced by her parents, Dai Liu was eager to learn from an early age.
While other children played, Dai Liu concentrated on her studies and never neglected her schoolwork. Her parents were proud and hoped that she would grow up to be a talented person. Dai Liu never disappointed her parents. From childhood to adulthood, she was always the best student in every exam. She was passionate about literary studies and planned to study at Peking University.
A Dream Shattered by Her Father’s Decision
In 1999, after three years of hard work, Dai Liu entered the university entrance examination period. She scored a high score of 687 but was shocked to find that she had been accepted into the Chinese University of Politics and Law instead of Peking University.
After inquiring about the situation, Dai Liu discovered that her father had secretly changed her university application. He had wanted her to study at the China University of Politics and Law, a university he had once dreamed of attending but failed to get into. Dai Liu felt angry and uncomfortable with her father’s decision.
A Strained Relationship and a Desire for Freedom
Although her parents tried to persuade her, Dai Liu decided not to attend the Chinese University of Politics and Law. Her father, however, did not feel sorry for his actions and instead controlled her strictly, locking her in the house.
Dai Liu decided to take matters into her own hands and applied for a program to study in Korea without telling her parents. When she was selected, her parents found out, and her father was furious. Dai Liu went on a hunger strike, and eventually, her parents released her.
A New Life in Korea and a Wedding Without Her Parents
After escaping her father’s rule, Dai Liu lived freely in Korea. She completed her master’s degree and found true love. The couple held their wedding on Jeju Island, South Korea, but Dai Liu did not invite her parents.
On the day of the wedding, Dai Liu’s mother called her and asked her not to tell her father about the wedding. Dai Liu’s mother also begged her to apologize and return home, but Dai Liu refused.
Time Heals Slowly, But Scars Remain
Years later, Dai Liu’s physical health began to weaken due to the high pressure of her work. She opened a small villa and tea shop to promote Chinese tea culture.
Although Dai Liu would occasionally call her father to talk about her life and take care of her parents’ health, the scars of her past still lingered. The conflict between Dai Liu and her father seemed to be resolved, but only Dai Liu knew that the wounds of her past would take time to heal.
