Controversy Surrounds Sherif Ekrami’s Media Statement
Former Al-Ahly and national team player Ahmed Bilal has condemned the advice given by veteran players regarding Pyramids goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami’s media statement.
Bilal took to his Facebook account to express his thoughts, stating, “Philosophical captain who dispenses advice to experienced players, thank you for your valuable advice, and we will, of course, advise you 20 years ago that you were practicing a profession witnessing Arabs and foreigners and you are still here.”
Bilal continued, “I am happy and pleased that you have found a profession where you can be good, which allows us to appreciate, criticize, and analyze our experience, our history in the stadium, and our abilities. Experience and ability have become such that you say Ramadan Kareem.”
Sherif Ekrami responded to Bilal’s post, saying, “In fact, it is a reflection of your superficial mentality and your empty mind on social media, which is actually viewed with disdain by many outsiders.”
Ekrami concluded, “Sports, in its essence, is based on fair competition on the field and mutual respect off it. I know life after retirement and being away from the limelight is painful, but come back to work if you want. Or let people remember you, try to find a more respectful way. People like you are considered the elite of the sport… role models for the fans, not the other way around.”
Bilal Denies Insulting Zamalek Club
Ahmed Bilal denied accusations of insulting the Zamalek club before facing Al-Ahly in the African Super Cup.
In a statement on the On Time Sports satellite channel, Bilal said, ”It is a big fortress, it has great value, it has a history and a great fan base, and I appreciate its fans.”
Bilal noted that sometimes statements are shortened and inappropriately delivered to fans, adding that he was talking about Zamalek’s performance in the last two matches.
Bilal predicted that Zamalek would perform well against Al-Ahly in the Super Cup, saying, “I think the African Super Cup match will be over before it starts in favor of Al-Ahly, in light of Zamalek’s very modest level.”
He added, “Zamalek, at its current level, I think it will not hit the crossbar in the match, and if it plays the match at this level, it does not need to travel to Saudi Arabia. Lose a big result, and Al-Ahmar’s win rate is 90%.”
Upcoming Match: Al-Ahly vs Zamalek in the African Super Cup
Zamalek is scheduled to meet their opponents Al-Ahli next Friday at 9 pm at the Kingdom Arena in the Saudi Sports Capital in the African Super Cup.
