PGA TOUR Announces Competitive Changes
The PGA TOUR Policy Board approved several competitive changes to enhance the tour’s appeal. This decision follows support from the Player Advisory Council (PAC) and aims to create a more competitive environment for players, fans, and tournament partners.

Eligibility Adjustments:
- Exempt status will change from top 125 to top 100 in the FedExCup standings. Players finishing 101-125 will have conditional status.
- The number of PGA TOUR cards available to the top finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour will decrease from 30 to 20. The DP World Tour will continue to provide 10 cards, while the PGA TOUR Q-School will cap at five spots.

Field Size Changes:
- Starting fields for Open tournaments will be reduced from 156 to a maximum of 144 players. Adjustments to 120 or 132 players may occur based on daylight conditions.
- The PLAYERS Championship will feature a field of 120 players.
- FedExCup Points Structure:
- Beginning in 2025, minor adjustments will occur in FedExCup points distribution during majors and Signature Events, affecting points for certain placements.
Implementation Timeline
- Changes to eligibility and field sizes will be in effect for the 2026 season.
