The 2024 Royal Navy Sports Awards celebrated achievements in football, boxing, and athletics at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Royal Navy senior men’s football team received the Team of the Year award. They excelled in the 2023-24 season, winning the Inter Services championship and the Portsmouth Senior Cup. Their captain, Chief Petty Officer Danny Kerr, was named Sportsman of the Year. He led the team to these victories and the UK Armed Forces team to the Kentish Cup last year.
CPO Kerr outperformed nominees Colour Sergeant RM James Wade from rowing and Commander Jamie Weller from gymnastics.
Lieutenant Chelsea Baker won Sportswoman of the Year. She is recognized as one of the UK’s top endurance runners this year in track, road, and cross-country competitions. Baker surpassed nominees Leading Engineering Technician Rachel White from skeleton and Leading Physical Trainer Emily Astbury from Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Marine Kyle Shaw-Tullin was awarded Young Sportsperson of the Year. He joined the Royal Navy boxing team earlier this year and quickly succeeded. He won the 80kg category at the English National Boxing Championships and was selected for the England Boxing squad for the 2024-25 season.
In addition, Lieutenant Commander Paul D’Arcy received Official of the Year, and Petty Officer Nick McGarry from boxing was named Coach of the Year.
