Aryna Sabalenka halted Iga Swiatek‘s quest for a ⁤fourth consecutive French Open title, winning their semifinal match 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-0.⁤ Swiatek, the world No. 1, ‌had only ‍dropped ⁤one set in the⁢ tournament prior ⁤to this match.

Sabalenka started strong,‍ seizing an early 3-0 lead ⁤in the first set. Swiatek, visibly frustrated, rallied to force a tiebreaker, but Sabalenka ⁣dominated, winning it 7-1.

Swiatek responded in the second set, putting Sabalenka on the defensive and winning 6-4. The polish star’s comeback silenced Sabalenka, who had been‍ vocal with her box.

The first two sets saw numerous breaks of serve—11 in total—preventing either‌ player‍ from establishing ⁢control. Though, Sabalenka found her rhythm in the third set, securing an early break and⁢ consolidating‌ it with two holds for a 3-0 lead. Swiatek‌ had no answer, and⁢ Sabalenka swept the set 6-0, earning ⁢her first French Open final berth.

While not a significant upset, as Sabalenka was the ‌slight pre-match ‌favorite, the⁢ result was surprising given swiatek’s‍ dominance on clay. However,Swiatek has struggled in 2025,without a singles title and only one final appearance.

With Swiatek’s ⁢streak over,‌ Sabalenka will face either Coco Gauff, the 2-seed, or⁤ French qualifier Lois Boisson in the final. This marks Sabalenka’s fifth Grand Slam final in her last six appearances, as she aims for her fourth major title and the third ⁢leg of a⁣ career ⁣Grand Slam.
