Makar, hutson, Hellebuyck Headline NHL‌ Awards Winners

The NHL‌ has announced its annual award winners, with Cale Makar, lane Hutson, ⁢and​ Connor Hellebuyck among⁣ those honored. The announcements came during the Stanley Cup⁢ final.

Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche secured the Norris trophy, awarded ​to the NHL’s best defenseman. Makar received 176 first-place votes,surpassing Zach‍ Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks. Makar is the first ​defenseman as Mike Green in 2008-09 to score 30 goals‍ in a season. He also joined Paul Coffey and Al MacInnis as‌ the only defensemen to record back-to-back 90-point seasons. His 30 goals set a franchise⁣ record for goals by a defenseman in a single season.

Lane Hutson ​of ‌the‍ montreal Canadiens earned the Calder Trophy as the top rookie. Hutson garnered 165 first-place votes, besting Calgary Flames‍ goaltender Dustin Wolf and San ‌Jose ‌Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini. Hutson is only the fourth defenseman in the modern era to lead ​all rookies in points, joining Bobby Orr, Brian Leetch, and Quinn Hughes. His 60 assists matched Larry Murphy’s record for assists by a rookie defenseman. He is the third‍ Canadiens player to win the award since 1967-68.

Connor Hellebuyck added the Hart Trophy ‍to his Vezina Trophy win. The Vezina is awarded to the league’s best goalie, while the Hart trophy goes to the player deemed most valuable⁣ to his team.

Hellebuyck is⁢ the first​ goalie to win the Hart Trophy since carey Price in 2014-15.He is the eighth goalie to ‍ever win the trophy.

Aleksander Barkov⁣ secured‌ his second straight Selke Trophy, awarded to the forward⁤ who excels ‌most in defensive aspects. Spencer Carbery of the Washington Capitals won the Jack Adams Award, given to the coach who contributed the ​most to his team’s success.
