Tribeca Festival 2025: Award-Winning Films and Games Unveiled

The Tribeca
Festival has announced it’s 2025 award winners, celebrating achievements in film, games, and
more. Charliebird, Happy Birthday, and Natchez secured top honors in the U.S.
narrative, international narrative, and documentary competitions, respectively.
Cara Cusumano, Tribeca Festival director, said the festival aims to spotlight new voices from around the
world. She added that this year’s winners represent the vibrancy and diversity of global independent
storytelling.
The Tribeca Festival runs through June 15.
U.S. Narrative Competition Winners
charliebird, directed by Libby Ewing, won the Founders Award for Best U.S. Narrative Feature. The
jury called it a deeply affecting portrait with grounded performances. Gabriela Ochoa Perez received Best
Performance for her role in Charliebird. Isabel Hagen won Best Screenplay for On a String.
Esta Isla (This Island), directed by Cristian Carretero and Lorraine Jones Molina, received a Special
Jury Mention. Cedric Cheung-Lau won Best Cinematography for esta Isla.
International Narrative Competition Winners
Sarah Goher’s Happy Birthday won Best International Narrative Feature. The jury praised its authentic
portrayal of class and motherhood. Mohamed Diab and Sarah Goher also won Best Screenplay for Happy
Birthday. Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn shared Best Performance for their roles in Dragonfly.
Lev Predan Kowarski won best Cinematography for Little Trouble Girls.

Matteo Burani’s Playing God won Best Animated Short. Malu Furche and Stefania Malacchini’s Petra
and the Sun received a Special Jury Mention for Animated Short. Gregory Brunkalla won Best Music Video
for “Rock The Bells” by LL COOL J.
Manya Glassman won the Student Visionary Award for How I Learned to Die, while Jiayi Li received a
Special Jury Mention for āyí. Cairn (France) won the Tribeca Games Award.
Liz Sargent won AT&T Presents Untold Stories for Take Me Home.

The Abnormal Beauty Company from The Ordinary, directed by Aref Mahabadi, won Best Feature. First Speech
by Reporters without Borders, directed by Giordano Maestrelli, won Best Short. Jim Jenkins won Best Commercial
for Century of Cravings from uber Eats. Gia Coppola won Best Episodic for A New York Minute from Mejuri.
Lucas Rizzotto won Best Content Creator/Influencer for A Robot’s Guide to Happiness from Brilliant Labs. Ben
Caro won Best Games/Immersive for WICKED RP: The Official experience on Roblox. matt sav won Best
Audio/Podcast for Dragon Age: Vows & Vengeance. Karimah Zakia Issa won the Social Impact Award for Daniel
Really Suits You from Human Rights Campaign. Alison Bartlett won the Environmental Impact Award for A Vital
Sun from Fordham University.
