Polestar has introduced the 2026 model of the Polestar 3 electric SUV, focusing on a comprehensive technical overhaul of the vehicle’s electrical architecture, computing power, and powertrain. While the exterior and interior designs remain virtually identical to the 2024 launch model, the update introduces significant changes to the vehicle’s internal systems and performance capabilities.
The central update to the 2026 Polestar 3 is the implementation of a new 800-volt electrical architecture. This system enables DC rapid charging at rates of up to 350kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes, which is approximately 25 percent faster than the previous version.
Complementing the electrical upgrade is a new Nvidia core computing chip. According to the company, this system is more than eight times more powerful than the previous iteration, a move intended to future-proof the vehicle and prepare it for integrated artificial intelligence.
Powertrain and Performance Specifications
The 2026 lineup is divided into three distinct variants: Rear motor, Dual motor, and Performance. Pricing for the entry-level Rear motor version starts at £69,990, while the Dual motor variant is priced from £77,990.
Each variant features updated battery and motor configurations:
- Rear motor: Equipped with a 92kWh battery and a new rear axle motor delivering 333hp, achieving 0 to 62mph in 6.5 seconds with a range of 375 miles.
- Dual motor: Utilizes a 106kWh battery pack and produces 544hp, reaching 0 to 62mph in 4.7 seconds with a range of 394 miles.
- Performance: Uses a 106kWh battery pack to deliver 680hp, accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds with a range of 368 miles.
To improve efficiency and range, Polestar has introduced a new asynchronous front motor that can be disconnected when This proves not required for propulsion.
Chassis and Ride Dynamics
The Performance variant includes a Polestar Engineered chassis setup and dual-chamber active air suspension as standard. It is further equipped with Brembo brakes, 22-inch forged alloy wheels, and custom Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Engineering adjustments for the 2026 model include slightly softened front suspension and firmer anti-roll bars to improve turn-in, alongside revised steering software for a more dynamic feel. Drivers can select between soft

The interior of the Polestar 3 maintains its previous high-end materials and spacious cabin, featuring a standard panoramic roof. However, the user interface remains heavily reliant on a touchscreen-centric, button-lite

Current criticisms of the interface include the lack of physical buttons for seat adjustments, door mirror settings, and the use of a digital hazard warning switch. Polestar has indicated that the vehicle will soon receive an update to provide illuminated steering wheel buttons to replace the existing non-illuminated setup.
For storage, the vehicle provides a 484-litre boot, a 32-litre front trunk (frunk) for charging cables, and an additional 90 litres of space located beneath the boot floor.
