Iowa Unemployment Insurance Rates to Remain Stable in 2026

Iowa’s unemployment insurance rates will remain at the same level for 2026, according to Iowa Workforce Development. The agency determines the applicable rate table annually using a formula based on the Unemployment Insurance Trust fund balance and covered wage growth.
For 2026, employers will utilize table D, representing the lowest rate permissible under Iowa law.
Recent Legislative Changes
Earlier this summer, Governor Kim Reynolds signed legislation that considerably altered the unemployment insurance landscape. Thes changes included reducing the taxable wage base by nearly half and lowering the maximum tax rate to the federal minimum of 5.4%.
Iowa has also streamlined its employer contribution rate tables, reducing them from eight to just four.
