Porsche has unveiled the 2027 911 GT3 S/C, marking the first time the GT3 has been produced as a convertible. The model, described as a Sport Cabriolet, integrates the high-revving performance of the GT3 line with an open-air configuration, utilizing a manual transmission and a naturally aspirated engine.
The 911 GT3 S/C is powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine that produces 502 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The engine is engineered for high-performance dynamics, reaching a maximum engine speed of 9,000 rpm. According to Porsche, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
Engineering and Chassis Specifications
A significant technical milestone for this model is the implementation of a double-wishbone front suspension, making it the first open-top 911 to feature this specific hardware. To balance performance and drivability, Porsche applied chassis calibration from the GT3 Touring to the S/C, resulting in a character that remains raw but is slightly more pliant than the wing-equipped GT3.
The vehicle’s design focuses heavily on lightweight construction to maintain agility. Porsche has made extensive use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) throughout the build. These weight-saving measures contribute to a curb weight of 3,322 lbs.
Interior and Hardware Features
The interior includes specific hardware designed for driver engagement and weight reduction. This includes optional folding lightweight bucket seats constructed from CFRP with a high-gloss carbon-weave finish and electric height adjustment.
Consistent with other GT3 models, the 911 GT3 S/C features an ignition switch located to the left of the steering wheel, a detail that distinguishes it from other 992.2 911 models which utilize a starter button. The car is equipped with a fully-automatic power convertible top.
Development and Market Positioning
The development of the GT3 S/C was inspired by the Speedster and incorporates lightweight components from the 911 S/T. While previous high-revving open-top 911s like the Speedster were limited-run and invite-only, the GT3 S/C enters the lineup without production limits.
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 911 GT3 S/C starts at $273,000, excluding options, taxes, and delivery fees. Porsche expects the model to be available starting in November 2026.
