Toyota has announced updates for the 2027 Land Cruiser, introducing new available features and a slight increase in pricing for its two trim levels. The updates focus on enhancing the vehicle’s off-road capabilities and interior comfort while maintaining its existing body-on-frame platform.
The primary addition for the 2027 model year is a High Mounted Air Intake, a feature previously associated with the Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter. This raised air intake is available as a stand-alone option for both available trim levels at a cost of $980.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The 2027 Land Cruiser continues to be offered in two trim levels: the 1958 Edition and a higher-spec model. Both trims have seen a price increase of $280 compared to the previous model year.
The 1958 Edition now starts at $59,375. The higher-spec model now starts at $65,450. Toyota has opened orders for these vehicles as of April 2026.
New Features and Specifications
Beyond the air intake, Toyota has introduced interior upgrades to the 2027 lineup. The vehicle now offers heated and ventilated second-row outboard seats, aimed at increasing the premium feel of the cabin.

The High Mounted Air Intake is designed to mimic the hardware found on the 4Runner Trailhunter. However, reports note that this specific option is not water-tight and should not be confused with a traditional snorkel used specifically to increase fording depth.
the 2027 model introduces a new exterior color option in black.
Market Positioning and Competition
The Land Cruiser shares a body-on-frame platform and significant hardware with the Toyota 4Runner. This overlap places the two models in a similar market segment of off-road-ready SUVs, though they are distinguished by design and powertrain options.
While the Land Cruiser focuses on a retro design and the new premium interior options, the 4Runner offers an exclusive hybrid powertrain. From a pricing perspective, the Land Cruiser’s entry point remains higher than the 4Runner’s TRD Off-Road models.
For the 2026 model year, the nonhybrid 4Runner starts at $51,985, and the hybrid version starts at $54,785. Higher-tier versions of the 4Runner, such as the TRD Pro, can reach a price of $69,895.
The 2027 Land Cruiser updates reflect Toyota’s broader strategy of offering a variety of rugged, off-road-capable vehicles across its truck and SUV lineups, including various TRD versions.
