DUNCANVILLE, Texas — Trenton Yancey, a four-star wide receiver from Duncanville High School’s class of 2027, visited the University of Notre Dame campus over the weekend, marking his first official trip to the program as part of his ongoing recruitment process.

The visit, which took place in mid-April 2026, allowed Yancey to tour Notre Dame’s athletic facilities, meet with members of the coaching staff, and observe a portion of the Fighting Irish spring football practices. According to recruiting analysts and insiders close to the process, the experience left a strong impression on the highly regarded prospect.

Yancey, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver known for his route-running precision and explosive burst off the line of scrimmage, has emerged as one of the top receiving talents in the 2027 class. His performance during Duncanville High’s 2025 season — which included multiple 100-yard receiving games and several touchdown catches — drew attention from programs across the country, including several in the Power Five conferences.

Notre Dame’s coaching staff, led by head coach Marcus Freeman, has prioritized adding elite pass-catching talent to its offensive roster in recent recruiting cycles. The program’s emphasis on pro-style offensive schemes and quarterback development has made it an attractive destination for receivers seeking to refine their skills at the collegiate level.

During his visit, Yancey reportedly spent time with Notre Dame’s wide receivers coach and observed how the team integrates its receivers into game-planning scenarios. While no commitments or timelines were announced following the trip, sources indicated that the visit was a meaningful step in evaluating Notre Dame as a potential fit for his academic and athletic goals.

Yancey has maintained a balanced approach to his recruitment, emphasizing the importance of both athletic opportunity and academic fit. Notre Dame’s reputation for academic rigor, combined with its national brand in college football, has positioned it as a serious contender in his decision-making process.

As of late April 2026, Yancey remains uncommitted and continues to evaluate offers from a range of FBS programs. His recruitment is expected to remain active through the summer and into his junior season at Duncanville High, where he will look to build on his sophomore-year production and further elevate his national profile.
