On September 13, 2025, animal welfare authorities reported an unusual situation: the repeated discovery of young pigeons in need of assistance. The birds, consistently found in the evenings by local walkers along the Drowning Road, present a puzzling case for the Animal Protection Centre.
Vulnerable youngsters Require Specialized Care
According to a statement released by the center, the pigeons are quite young, still bearing visible downy feathers. This indicates they are not yet fully independent and require hand-feeding. “The smallest food is not yet yourself and are now being conducted by us,” a representative stated, emphasizing the intensive care needed to ensure their survival.
Seeking Experienced Pigeon Keepers
The Animal Protection Center is actively seeking experienced pigeon enthusiasts – particularly those involved in pigeon racing or keeping – to provide foster or adoptive homes for these birds. A crucial requirement is the ability to allow the pigeons to fly freely, ensuring they can develop the skills necessary for independent living.
Origin Remains a Mystery - and Abandonment is Not the Answer
The origin of these pigeons remains unclear. Authorities are unsure weather they are offspring from privately kept birds or from pigeons living freely in urban areas. The Animal protection Center strongly cautioned against abandoning unwanted pigeons or intentionally disturbing nests in the wild, stating, “This is not a way to get rid of your animals or to rob nests from city pigeons!”
We urge anyone struggling to care for pigeons to contact us or a local animal welfare organization for assistance. Abandoning animals is illegal and inhumane.
Ongoing Examination and Community Support
The Animal Protection Center continues to monitor the situation and investigate the circumstances surrounding these discoveries. They encourage anyone wiht information about the pigeons’ origin to come forward. The center relies on community support to provide care for these and other animals in need. Updates will be posted on their Facebook page.
