At the World Triathlon Cup in Rome held on 2026, REN SATO finished as the top Japanese male competitor in 23rd place with a time of 54 minutes and 59 seconds. Alex Yee of Great Britain won the elite men’s race in 53 minutes and 47 seconds at the sprint distance event featuring a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike ride, and 5-kilometer run.

Ren Sato clocked 00:54:59 to secure 23rd place among 65 competitors in the elite men’s division. Teammate Takumi Hojo finished 36th with a time of 55 minutes and 54 seconds, while Risshin Tozuka took 45th in 57 minutes and 02 seconds. The water temperature was recorded at 24.7 degrees Celsius and the air temperature at 22.0 degrees Celsius. Great Britain’s Alex Yee claimed the men’s gold medal by finishing in 53 minutes and 47 seconds. Martin Hubner of France and Tristan Douche of France followed closely, both clocking 54 minutes and 12 seconds to round out the podium.
林愛望 paces Japanese women in close finish
Aimi Hayashi finished 37th in the elite women’s race with a time of one hour, one minute, and 58 seconds to lead the Japanese female contingent. Miyu Sakai placed 44th out of 64 starters with a time of one hour, three minutes, and five seconds. The women competed in water measuring 24.2 degrees Celsius and air at 20.5 degrees Celsius. Tilda Månsson of Sweden finished just one second behind in 59 minutes and 13 seconds for second place, and Taylor Spivey of the United States took third in 59 minutes and 28 seconds. Competition in the Italian capital continues with the mixed relay event scheduled to start at 3:30 PM Japan Time on October 4, 2026. The relay follows the individual sprint distance races held on October 3, bringing the five-member Japanese contingent back together to compete on the international stage.
