Updated June 25, 2025
Fans can now preorder the Steelbook Collector’s Edition of “28 Years Later,” the highly anticipated sequel to “28 Days later” and “28 Weeks Later.” The collector’s edition includes 4K Blu-ray,1080p Blu-ray,and digital copies of the film.
The official steelbook design is yet to be revealed, but placeholder art features the Bone Temple. The Steelbook Collector’s Edition is currently priced at $45 at both Amazon and Walmart, offering the best value compared to the standard editions. Prices for standard editions may fluctuate, but preorders guarantee the lowest price offered before release.
Directed by Danny Boyle, with a script by Alex Garland, “28 Years Later” picks up almost three decades after the rage virus outbreak. The UK remains isolated, giving rise to new communities. The film follows a group from an island outpost as they uncover secrets and horrors beyond their haven.
Notably, “28 Years Later” was filmed using iPhone 15 smartphones with custom lenses and specialized rigs, creating a unique visual style. A sequel, “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” has already been filmed for release next year. Plans are in place for a third film if the first two are prosperous.
The original “28 Days Later,” filmed with lightweight Canon digital camcorders due to time constraints, resulted in lower-resolution footage. Upscaling from these tapes proves challenging, evident in the higher-resolution scenes shot with an Arri camera. While “28 Weeks Later” may not be as beloved as its predecessor, it remains a solid entry in the zombie genre.

What’s next
