The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that the final three stations of the Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6) will open for passenger service on July 12, 2026. The completion of this four-kilometer stretch will close the loop between HarbourFront and Marina Bay stations, marking the end of a project first announced in 2015.

Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow announced the opening date on May 14, 2026, during an event at the Cantonment station. The three new stations—Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road—will provide more direct transit routes to the Marina Bay area, the HarbourFront area, and the Central Business District.

To manage the expected increase in passenger volume following the completion of the loop, the LTA has purchased 23 new trains. This acquisition increases the existing Circle Line fleet by 36 percent, raising the total number of trains from 64 to 87. The first batch of these new trains arrived in Singapore in March 2022 and has been progressively introduced into service since April 2026.

The completed Circle Line will bring the total number of stations on the line to 33, including 12 interchange stations that connect to other rail lines. The LTA stated that the closed loop will shorten travel times and offer commuters alternative routes that bypass the heavily congested interchanges at Raffles Place and City Hall.

Before the official commencement of passenger service, the LTA will hold a public preview on July 4, 2026. The public will be able to ride free of charge between the Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road stations from 9:30 a.m. To 9:00 p.m.

The project faced several delays that pushed its completion beyond the original 2025 target. According to Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow, the timeline was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the necessity for tunnel strengthening work, which had to be completed before the final stage of construction could resume.

The completion of the loop is expected to enhance connectivity across Singapore by linking the Circle Line to all existing train lines. The final system tests and integration for the new stretch are currently underway to ensure the line is ready for the July 12 opening.
