Three-Year-Old Girl Found Safe After Getting Lost in Snowy Italian Forest
TONEZZA DEL CIMONE, Italy – A three-year-old girl has been found safe and sound after going missing Wednesday evening in Tonezza del Cimone, a mountainous area in northern Italy. The child, whose name has not been released, was reportedly a little cold but otherwise unharmed.
The search began shortly before 6:00 PM local time when the girl wandered off while playing with her two dogs near her home. Family members quickly realized she was missing and alerted authorities.
A widespread search operation was immediately launched, involving local residents, Carabinieri police, the mountain rescue team from Arsiero, civil protection volunteers, firefighters, and technicians utilizing drones. One of the dogs was located some distance from the family’s home during the initial search efforts.
Fortunately, just before 7:00 PM, two individuals assisting with the search located the girl along a snow-covered forest road leading towards Cimone, approximately two and a half kilometers from where she was last seen.
According to reports, the girl likely walked onto the paved road and then continued onto the snow-covered forest path before stopping when she was unable to proceed further. The dog remained with her throughout the ordeal.
A rescue team reached the girl on foot while a nurse from the mountain rescue team arrived by vehicle to assess her condition. She was then safely returned to her parents.
The incident prompted a significant response from emergency services and local volunteers, demonstrating a swift and coordinated effort to locate the missing child. The successful outcome brought relief to the family and the community.
