33 Taiwanese Arrested in Laos for Targeting Fellow Citizens in Fraud Scheme

The operation focused on a hotel location that served as a hub for scams specifically designed to defraud Taiwanese citizens. The 33 individuals arrested are all Taiwanese nationals, according to the reports from UDN and CTWANT.

The crackdown occurred at a hotel converted into a fraudulent operational center. According to UDN and ETtoday, the syndicate’s activities were specifically tailored to target Taiwanese victims. The scale of the operation led to the apprehension of 33 Taiwanese staff members working at the site.

While the majority of the personnel were detained, the ringleader managed to evade capture. PChome Online reports that the primary suspect is a Chinese national who fled the scene during the chaos of the raid.
