35 Years Behind Bars: The Mysterious Death of a Lifelong Prisoner
Ali Akbar (70), a prisoner sentenced to 55 years in the murder, robbery and weapons case, died in Magura District Jail while undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. His home is Arshad Ali son of Barishat village Magura Sripur upazila.
Jail authorities rushed him to the 250-bed Sadar Magura Hospital when he fell ill around 11 am on Wednesday (October 30). He died there at 12:20pm while receiving treatment.
Confirming the matter, Magura district prison manager, Abid Hossain, said that he has been serving a sentence in the district prison since 1990. The court sentenced him to 55 years imprisonment in four cases. He was suffering from various diseases including high blood pressure, diabetes.
He also said that he felt pain in his chest around 11:00 and was taken to the 250-bed Sadar Magura Hospital where he died at 12:20 in the afternoon.
