As of January 1, 2027, Poland’s minimum wage will rise to 4,950 PLN gross, resulting in a net payout of 3,703 PLN, it was reported. This represents an increase of just under 150 PLN gross and roughly 100 PLN net compared to the 2026 rate of 4,806 PLN gross and 3,606 PLN net. The state-mandated adjustment will directly impact thousands of working seniors nationwide.

Rising Minimum Wage Pulls More Polish Seniors Into the Labor Market

Portal ciekaweliczby.pl reports via ZUS figures that the number of individuals with established pension rights who contributed to health insurance through gainful employment reached 879,5 tys. at the close of 2025. This means roughly one in every seven pensioners in Poland maintains an active job. Across the country, 137 out of every 1,000 retirees are currently employed, reflecting a growth of 100 tys. working seniors over the five-year period from 2020 to 2025.

Statistical data from ZUS reveals clear demographic patterns among older members of the workforce. Women make up the majority of employed retirees, accounting for 57.8 percent of the total working senior population. The average age of an employed pensioner in Poland is 67 years and three months. These working seniors span various sectors where baseline statutory pay scales dictate entry-level compensation.

Minimum Hourly Rate Increases to 32.30 PLN Gross

Alongside the monthly baseline increase, statutory hourly pay rates will shift upward at the start of 2027. The minimum hourly rate will increase to 32.30 PLN gross.
