A new wave of AI-powered consulting technology startups in Silicon Valley is attempting to disrupt the traditional consulting industry by automating data management and technology optimization. These emerging firms are targeting functions historically managed by the “Big Four” and “MBB” consultancies, with some seeking to capture market share and others aiming to complement established players.

According to reporting from Business Insider, five specific startups have emerged as promising leaders in this category. Collectively, four of these companies have raised more than $300 million in funding to develop platforms that allow enterprises to make faster decisions and manage internal data more efficiently.

Enterprise Automation and Decision Intelligence

PromptQL, led by CEO and founder Tanmai Gopal, has raised $136 million to develop an enterprise platform that automates typical consulting tasks, such as generating reports and surfacing insights. The company allows clients to create custom AI analysts by integrating internal data with existing foundation models.

These AI analysts are designed to perform tasks usually reserved for engineers or data scientists and are capable of adapting to their environments over time. PromptQL also provides access to expert engineers to assist with AI transformation strategies at a rate of $900 per hour.

Gopal stated that the platform’s killer feature is its ability to provide AI accuracy at scale without requiring messy data to be prepped or moved elsewhere.

Aily Labs, founded in 2020 by former Novartis executive Bianca Anghelina, has secured $101 million in funding. The company provides a decision intelligence platform for Fortune 500 companies that consolidates siloed data to accelerate corporate decision-making.

Anghelina noted that traditional decision-making is often delayed by processes taking weeks or months because data is owned by different functions. Aily Labs utilizes an AI brain combining proprietary and off-the-shelf large language models to provide recommendations in minutes.

Market Research and Generative Optimization

Profound has raised $58.5 million to focus on generative engine optimization, or GEO. This process involves optimizing content to increase a company’s visibility within generative AI chatbots such as ChatGPT.

The startup analyzes real-time search data and advises companies on how AI agents interface with their digital content. This automates the work previously performed by brand and marketing consultants who used focus groups to determine how brands ranked against competitors.

Dialogue AI, which has raised $6 million, is targeting the market research sector. Founded by Benjamin Lo, Justin Hoang, and Hubert Chen, the platform aims to reduce the turnaround time for market research studies from several weeks to a single day.

The platform manages the entire research lifecycle, including the design of studies, participant recruitment, and the conduct of interviews, with the goal of democratizing market research for designers, engineers, and consultants.

AI Measurement and Analytics

Larridin has raised $17 million to provide measurement and analytics regarding the internal use of AI within organizations. The company’s product, Scout, is designed to give companies visibility into the actual impact and usage of AI tools.

Cofounder Russell Fradin stated that Scout helps organizations determine which AI tools are increasing employee productivity and whether a company should increase or cancel its spending on specific tools.

Unlike some of its peers, Larridin is not attempting to replace consulting firms but instead intends to provide the data that those firms can use. The company aims to establish itself as a large-scale measurement entity for the AI revolution.

AI is moving faster than any technology revolution in history, and like the internet, it needs independent measurement to prove value.
