What Happened?
Horrific and tragic news coming out of Monterey County this week. On Friday, a 5-year-old girl whent missing and her father was killed after large waves swept them off the Big Sur coast, according to the monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened 20 minutes south of Carmel-by-the-Sea at Garrapata State Beach around 1:00 PM by a wave that was possibly 15 to 20 feet high, according to California State Parks.After the daughter was pulled off the beach by the set, her father, identified later as 39-year-old Yuji Hu, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, tried to rescue her. The child’s mother attempted to save them both, but she was also swept into the sea.
