INCHEON, South ⁤Korea (AP) — The remains of william Chrysler, a Canadian veteran ‍of the Korean War, ‍have been repatriated to South ⁢Korea, fulfilling his final wish. The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced that a ceremony was held‍ Tuesday at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 to receive Chrysler’s remains.

A formal‍ interment ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan. According to ⁣the ministry, Kang Jung-ae, Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, ⁤Tamara mawhinney, the Canadian Ambassador to Korea, and members of Chrysler’s‌ family were present at Tuesday’s ceremony.

Service in the Korean War

Chrysler, who was 20 ‌years old when ⁣he joined the conflict, served until ⁤March 1952. His unit received the U.S. Presidential Unit Citation (Blue Ribbon) for thier‍ performance in the Battle of Gapyeong.

Life ‌After the War

After the war,Chrysler worked as a special welding⁢ engineer for nuclear power plant cooling towers. He met and married a Korean woman. He​ revisited Korea last April⁤ as part of a re-licensing event and passed away in November at the age of 94.

Final Resting Place

Chrysler‍ will be the 29th United Nations veteran interred at⁢ the UN Memorial Park since 2015.
