“60 Minutes” to Air Segment on Trump-Era Deportations After initial Delay
60 Minutes will broadcast a segment examining Trump administration deportations to a prison in El Salvador, after it was initially pulled from the schedule last month. The segment is slated to air on Sunday evening’s broadcast, CBS News announced.
The segment was originally prepared for the December 21st broadcast but was removed from the lineup hours before it was set to air. CBS News stated at the time it would air on a future date.
Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi afterward sent an email to CBS News staff on December 21, 2025, objecting to the decision. Alfonsi characterized the removal as a “political” move adn an instance of corporate interference, rather then an editorial decision.
The segment focuses on deportations carried out during the Trump administration to the Centro de Detención y Rehabilitación de Terroristas (CDRT) in El Salvador, a prison known for its harsh conditions and alleged human rights abuses.
