Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine,whose real name is Daniel Hernández,is again facing controversy online after ironically referencing his upcoming return to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn,a well-known U.S. federal prison for high-profile inmates.
Through his Instagram account, the artist of Mexican descent confirmed he must serve a three-month prison sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release, stemming from previous legal proceedings.
Tekashi6ix9ine’s mockery of Maduro Sparks Outrage
Alongside the announcement, Tekashi posted a comment that quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions: “Now I’m about to meet the president of Venezuela,” adding “We’re gonna play and eat together.”
The statement was seen as a direct jab at Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan president, who is also being held at the MDC in Brooklyn.
