7 Affordable Toronto Restaurants From the Michelin Guide and Top 100 List

The Michelin Guide Toronto & Region released its official 2026 selection on Sept. 22, unveiling 111 recognized restaurants across 33 cuisine types during a local ceremony. While the annual guide largely maintained the status quo by awarding no new Michelin stars in Toronto, the latest edition added 11 recommended eateries and five new Bib Gourmand designations for value-driven dining. Lincoln’s Restaurant Pearl Morissette retained its top two-star distinction, while 13 Toronto establishments kept their single-star ratings.
Star-Rated Standouts and Retaining Restaurants

The 13 Toronto establishments keeping their one-star status include aKin, Alo, DaNico, Don Alfonso 1890, Edulis, Enigma Yorkville, Kaiseki Yu-zen Hashimoto, Kappo Sato, Osteria Giulia, Quetzal, Restaurant 20 Victoria, Shoushin, and Sushi Masaki Saito.
New Bib Gourmand and Recommended Additions
The Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand distinction highlights restaurants offering great food at a great value. The five newly added Bib Gourmand locations include Antylia in Toronto, Golden Horseshoe Barbecue in Toronto, Les Incompetents in St. Catharines, RPM Bakehouse in Jordan, and The Lunch Lady of Saigon in Toronto. In addition to the value-focused category, 11 venues joined the Michelin Recommended list. Those new additions consist of 165 ONEFIVESIX in Toronto, Bar Allegro in Toronto, Bar Ardo in Toronto, Bar Eugenie in Toronto, Liliana in Toronto, LORE in Collingwood, Oddbird in St. Catharines, Pho Ngoc Yen in Toronto, PUNCH in Toronto, Revé in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Takja in Toronto.
Michelin-Approved Dining From Budget Guides
Beyond the newly minted additions, several eateries featured on critic-curated affordable dining lists also carry Michelin approval. Among them is Aloette, whose original Spadina Avenue location holds a Michelin recommended status, and which operates a popular Financial District spot at 81 Bay St. in CIBC Square. Toronto Star chief critic Chris Nuttall-Smith praised the location for offering an affordable luxury experience, highlighting items such as a $10 mini martini served with a shucked half-shell oyster on a miniature bowl of pebbled ice, alongside a pre-game burger and tall lemon meringue pie. Another crossover favorite is Ardo, a downtown Sicilian restaurant located at 243 King St. E. Nuttall-Smith noted that Chef Roberto Marotta’s kitchen serves Sicilian cooking featuring chickpea flour panelle, cheesy arancini, white anchovies in emerald-green oil, and imported Sicilian pastas. Rounding out the recognized casual spots is a Nashville-style hot chicken venue in the Junction located at 2853 Dundas St. W., where meats are dry-brined and fried to order.
